In fact, the March 2005 issue of Alternative Medicine magazine recently recommended B vitamins as the most important vitamin/mineral supplement for improving mood. Specifically, Alternative Medicine recommended taking extra B6, B12 and folate, the same three B vitamins found in AMORYN. (The article also recommended St. John's Wort and 5-HTP, two other ingredients in AMORYN.) B vitamins help fight depression and anxiety by facilitating the function of neurotransmitters, the brain's natural chemical messengers that regulate mood and emotion. They do this by allowing your brain to produce more of a natural compound called SAM-e. In recent years, SAM-e (S-adenosylmethionine) has become a popular over-the-counter treatment for depression. SAM-e also occurs naturally in the brain, and helps make serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine. By boosting the levels of these "feel good" neurotransmitters, SAM-e naturally improves mood. But low levels of SAM-e can cause depression.
Unfortunately, over-the-counter SAM-e supplements are expensive and poorly absorbed by
the digestive system. Luckily, the body can produce its own SAM-e using folic acid and vitamin B12, two of the B vitamins in AMORYN.6
Adding extra B12 and folic acid
to your diet may bring the benefits of SAM-e without the drain on your wallet. That's why AMORYN provides potent doses of both
folic acid and vitamin B12. In fact, one study showed that taking folic acid with
an antidepressant medication was far more effective than taking the antidepressant alone.7 In the same way,
taking B vitamins with hyperforin, the potent natural anti-depressant found in AMORYN, may work better than taking hyperforin alone.
And there is evidence that taking extra B6 also raises levels of serotonin3,
a neurotransmitter crucial to maintaining a positive outlook.
Increasing dietary intake of B6, B12 and folic acid is a simple, safe and inexpensive way to improve mood, fight stress and increase mental energy. That's why AMORYN provides high doses of all three of these essential B vitamins. Their role in the AMORYN formula is to support the actions of hyperforin and 5-HTP by providing the brain with the nutrition it needs to restore emotional balance. (The small amounts of these vitamins provided by daily multivitamin formulas are sufficient for the general population but may be inadequate for individuals with depression, anxiety or other emotional conditions. Even if you're taking a daily multivitamin, you can still benefit from the higher doses provided by AMORYN.) Prevent deficiencies of mood-related B vitamins by ordering AMORYN today.
